Scott G. Brooks

Mr. Brooks has represented clients in a variety of high-profile, high-stakes, and sensitive matters. His experience includes:

• representing the principals of a prominent Washington, D.C. research firm in a RICO suit before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit, resulting in an affirmance of the district court’s decision to dismiss all claims against the principals;
• serving as plaintiff’s counsel in a federal civil rights action in connection with the June 2020 attack on protesters in Lafayette Square in Washington, D.C.;
• defending the former chief executive of an international defense contractor in a criminal tax case in federal court; and
• representing the co-founder of a multi-million-dollar business enterprise in a corporate dispute.

In addition, Mr. Brooks was among the lead authors of a 600-page investigative report on the French government’s role in the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi in Rwanda.

Before joining Levy Firestone Muse, Mr. Brooks clerked for the Honorable Stephanie D. Thacker of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit and the Honorable Paul W. Grimm of the U.S. District Court for the District of Maryland. He graduated summa cum laude from George Mason University School of Law, where he served as editor-in-chief of the George Mason Law Review.

A former journalist, Mr. Brooks was the City Hall reporter and a weekly political columnist for New Hampshire’s statewide daily newspaper, the New Hampshire Union Leader. He has also worked overseas, serving at one time as a political and economic analyst at the United States embassy in Algeria.
